Da The Art Fabric_Mainstream di Mildred Costanite/Jack Lenor Larsen:

“As shown on page 218, Lenore Tawney, in the late 70’s, created very large translucent “volumes” by suspending thousands of linen strands from an overhead canvas rectangle.
The insistent order of her square grid knotting plan contrasts with the free falling slubby yarn.
About the same time a Japanese and two Europeans experimented with vertical strands. Mario Yagi’s adventure led to glamorous lighting fixtures for a Milanese producer. Bandiera Cerantola and Moik Schiele developed strand systems to exploit new potentials for chromatic iridescence. As shown on page 196, both artists have developed an ordered color sequence; both realize the kinetic vibrations resulting from moving past series of verticals. Schiele’s color system is as directly stated as the straight falling strands themselves. Hard and dense, her rayon filaments readily respond to gravity. Their high luster electrifies the full-intensity color.
Cerantola describes her Tessuto del Colore in terms of “space experienced as the discovery of color in fabric.” Its three-meter cube is formed by hundreds of suspended strands— each a tube knit of yarns in a set proportion of primary colors. This proportion gradually progresses from red to orange or blue to green. A walkway diagonally across the cube divides it into two triangles. Saturate, full intensity color on these long sides of the triangles is more and more diluted with white as it progresses toward the apex. The concept is scientific; the result, sensual.”
